These templates are a relatively new addition to Gravit, so I expect that they're gonna continue expanding that range for some time. And then you get a whole bunch of different options that you can use to start your work with. So all you have to do is just click on one of these categories. If it's in here, you can go ahead and use it. So there's no licensing on this that you need worry about. And now that I'm logged in, you can see that we have a bunch of different templates that we can use as starter content.
And to do this, you're gonna need a free cloud account with Gravit. You also have the ability to create a new document from a template. Or you can put in any other specific size in here, and then go ahead and create your document. And then you can define your canvas size later, once you know where you're going. So you can just start putting down ideas. And you also, this is another thing that's very handy, have the option to leave the width and the height empty, and just have a completely infinite canvas. So if you know you wanna do something for social media, for example, you can choose from a bunch of different sizes here. So on this first page here, that you'll see when you load up Gravit for the first time, you've got a bunch of different dimension presets. All right, now let's have a quick look at our options for creating new documents. But if you also wanna have access to your system fonts, then you're probably gonna be better off using one of the desktop versions. And that's really good, to have access to those Google fonts. If you're using the Chrome app or just using it in the browser, then you're gonna be working with Google fonts. As for when you should use the desktop version, pretty much the major advantage that the desktop version has is access to your system fonts. But it's just gonna feel a lot like working with a regular application. It's still running inside Chrome or Chromium. And when you run it, it's gonna look like this, without any browser tabs or any of the other UI that you would normally have in a browser instance. You can put an icon for it on your desktop. When you have it installed as an app like this, as I mentioned, it'll show up in your Start menu. If you find yourself wanting to use it on a regular basis, I would recommend going and installing it from the Chrome Web Store so that you get it in your system, running much like any other application. Or you can just go to designer.io any time you wanna use the editor. Generally speaking, you're gonna be best off using Chrome or Chromium. So if you do wanna go with a browser, well, it does allow you to use any browser you want to access it. You're gonna see just a little bit more lag if you use the desktop versions. So now, which version to choose? What are the pros and cons of each of these versions? Right now, the best performance that you're gonna get out of Gravit is if you do use it in a browser. And then that icon's also gonna be available to you through your Start menu or your application launcher, or for you to pin on your dock, for example. And if you do that, the advantage is, you get a little icon here on your Apps page.
And then you can install Gravit inside either Chrome or Chromium. The third option is to head to the Chrome Web Store.
So you just download the version for your operating system, and away you go. No matter what type of system you're using, you're gonna be able to get a desktop version. It's got excellent cross-platform support. And then these are the operating systems that are supported right now. Now, if you want to use a desktop version, then you can just hit this Download button here. And then the interface is just gonna open up right there in your browser tab. And then, up in the top-right corner, you can click this button here, Use it Online. So if you just wanna use it online as and when you need it, then you can head to designer.io. So I'm just gonna show you through those options really quickly to help you decide which one of those you wanna use. Or three, you can use it as a Chrome Web Store app. Two is, you can use one of their desktop apps. One is, you can use it online, directly in the browser. Now, there are basically three different ways that you can go about accessing Gravit on a regular basis. All right, so first, we'll look at installation. The options that you have when you're creating new documents, and also a couple of different ways that you have available to save the documents that you're working on. We're gonna start right at the beginning here, by looking at the different options that you have when you're installing and getting Gravit Designer ready to use. Welcome to the first lesson of Gravit Designer Quick Start.
